hi, i m guy incognito from london, england, and this is my first vinyl release called feelings. there are two songs on it, feelings and nothing else to say. both songs are based on dreams i had about someone that i wanted to write a soundtrack for. i remembered the dreams so vividly that when i sat down to write the music it all came together really quickly. thanks to ooukfunkyoo for supporting the video i made for feelings. it allowed me to put together this vinyl for release in january 2018. i hope you like them! love, guy xxx

lee burton is the next artist on raum musik and this is his first single for our label. lee is hailing from greece and we were quite happy to receive some demo tracks of him, as he caught our attention already a while ago. his productions are more house related, but always with a nice, modern twist. his powerful sound and also his very well structured sound design could easily be described as his signature and it s definitely worth keeping an eye on him.

making his long awaited return to salt mines, hymns produces a debut 12” flecked with restrained breakbeats, off-kilter rhythms and glistening pads. opener ‘water acid’ is an eerie amalgamation of aquatic electro and tense emotion, built for a fractured dancefloor deep in the arctic ring. a2 ‘searching for the real’ provides a brief moment of introspection, before b-side leader ‘heinz harald frentzen’ crashes down and amplifies the intensity with sharp breaks and rapid, stark percussion. closing the release, title track ‘waves of nothing’ showcases hymns at his best, utilising lonely synths and equally mechanical and organic percussion to create a sentimental, vulnerable climax.

soothsayers are back with a double a side featuring two massive tunes from their forthcoming album. originally released on the strut records album collaboration with cornel campbell, soothsayers have reworked their tune nothing can stop us upping the tempo and showcasing the vocal recipe of singers idris rahman , robin hopcraft and julia biel take me high is a heavy, dark and spacious head-nodder. sublime tripped out vocals by soothsayers as cornel campbell floats high in the atmosphere above accompanied by earth-shaking trombone and analogue bleeps in a sumptuous dubbed up mix. warm analogue sound recorded at fishmarket studios, mixed by daniel boyle at rolling lion studios. soothsayers releases are always championed by dj david rodigan (bbc 1xtra), as well as gilles peterson (bbc6) and many others.

black country overlord justin k broadrick (jesu, godflesh) blesses regis’ downwards fiefdom with two tracks and a tightly sprung rework by surgeon. downwards have really picked the foulest iterations of a grim set for vinyl release, inscribing the industrial-strength torque of nothing is free - which sounds like early kode 9 battered by shapednoise - at 45rpm across the front face, and branding the knuckling 808 snares and distended electro bass blow out of kontorted on its backside. surgeon’s remix of the title tune ranks among his best in many years. trace elements of the original are extruded thru modular kit and remodelled on a bouncing, swerving techno chassis recalling bmb and cub classics, but streaked with sirens and vamped by a marching brass refrain that’s just spoiling for war. the release marks a long overdue overlap between downwards’ and broadrick’s interrelated industrial, noise and techno circles. broadrick was the original drummer for napalm death on their scum (1987) album, before forming the legendary godflesh, and carving out an oeuvre as one of the most feared and respected musicians to emerge from birmingham and the uk ever since.
